An old lady brought to the antique salon family artifact — jade turtle, which, in her opinion, brought protection from evil. The next day former investigator Ilya Smolin finds this turtle in his pocket. Remembering how it could get there, he comes on the trail of Yura Kopylov, a pickpocket whom he had encountered at the police station the day before. It turns out that Kopylov had planted the turtle on Ilya and died mysteriously shortly afterwards.
